Fighting the Yicks

So as most people know I have been fighting the Yicks lately. Some people may call them the blues or something similar, but for me they are the yicks. I don't feel like myself. I can't put words around it. I can't really explain it. I don't know exactly what the source of it is - although I have some sneaking suspicions as to a few causes (none of them major - just a lot of little things eating away at my inner being).

A sweet friend of mine sent me an email this morning that was so touching and awesome. She pulled out a verse that just blew me away....

"You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule." - Matthew 5:3 from the Message

I let this roll around in my head all day today.....really let it sink in. I love God with all of my heart and feel very passionate about living a life that reflects God's love. However, I know that I am guilty...that I am not perfect. When times are good, when I am living high on life and the world around me....I am more self focused and less God focused. This is a sad but true fact. I hope others will not judge me for my honestly on this point. I think that it is easy to forget God when times are good and easy to turn to Him when we hit a rough patch.

But how sweet is it that no matter where we are, no matter if we are living high or at our lowest point God is ALWAYS there. He has never left us. He is faithful. He loves us unconditionally. How AWESOME is that!

This verse reminds me that sometimes I need to stop and look at my life. I need to look at what is most important. I need to prioritize. But most importantly I need to filter. I need to remove the things from my life that are not beneficial. I need to cut ties with relationships that are a drain on my time, emotions, and that make me feel bad about myself.

I believe that I am a good person. I believe that I have others best interests at heart. I believe that I have valuable things to offer people. I believe that I am the person God created me to be and that He does have a purpose for my life. I know that I have to go through the valleys in order to get to the mountain tops.

Today I stand at the end of my rope and I am blessed. I am blessed because in the silence of my prayer time I can hear God. I can feel Him tugging at my heart. I know He is working in my life. I know He has a purpose for me and that if I am faithful, if I listen, if I learn to be content and purposeful He will reveal to me the path for my life. I know it will not always be easy and it will not always be laughter and cheer. Being a Christian does not always mean that life will be happy and easy. But it does mean that my life will be full and blessed and wonderful in it's own special way.

I am here! I will live another day. Things will brighten up! I will become stronger! And no matter what, God will always be there with me....cheering me on and giving me the strength to fulfill my purpose.

"Thank you God for bringing me to the end of my rope. For making more room for You in my life. For bringing me back to a place where I can refocus. You are always faithful and intentional. Your love is bigger than me. I love you with all that I am and thank you for your continued blessings!" Amen

Fun Weekend

What a fun weekend we have had. Saturday morning we took the kids to see Hotel for Dogs. The movie is super cute. I really enjoyed it and so did the girls....well I think they enjoyed the popcorn and soda as much as they enjoyed the movie. B* had to actually cut Jh* off as she would have ate popcorn until she threw up. We came home from the movie, had lunch, and then bundled up and headed outside to sled.

Okay, let me say this....I had as much fun as (or to tell you the truth probably more) as the kids did. It was a BLAST! I love sledding so much. I remember going sledding as a kid. Even in high school my friends would get together and go sledding! And we had some GREAT hills back home where you could really pick up some speed! Oh so much fun.

For now our backyard hills are perfect for the girls. Just enough speed to make it exciting and not enough to make it dangerous! Here are some pictures from our fantastic afternoon.

We went out again today to take advantage of the warmer weather....sledding gave way to an all out snowball fight. It was so much fun to hear the girls laugh and giggle. They loved pelting me with snowballs and watching me drop to the ground. I felt like a kid again! I'm so glad they enjoy the outdoors!!!

Weekend Fun

So here are my silly kids playing and having a good time. I couldn't help but snap some quick pics of them! I love hearing their little laughs and big ideas! Just warms your heart!

What a fun weekend we had. Friday nigth Aunt J and Uncle A came over for supper and played some Wii after the kids went to bed. The girls played some Candyland with mommy and daddy before Supper. It was a lot of fun.

On Saturday we did some home improvement shopping. I've been wanting to get lights up over the island in the kitchen and a light in the master bedroom because I'm tired of using the closet light as my main light source. So we all trekked to the store and found what I was wanting. B* later that afternoon starting putting up the kitchen lights. He did a great job and I really love them!
The girls and I worked on an art project while daddy worked in the kitchen. And little J had some fun bouncing!

On Sunday B* finished up our home improvement projects by putting up the light in the master! Yeah! It looks great and I couldn't be happier!

Now onto the rest of my home improvement list.....ahhhh I think B has filled his quota for a while. The list will have to wait! :)

All in all we had a great weekend! So much fun!

New Years Resolutions

So I am not generally a person who makes New Years Resolutions, but this year I'm going to give it a whirl. So here are the things that I resolve to do...

#1 Love more - give more of my time and energy to my family.
#2 Learn something new - I'm not sure yet what this will be. I've got a couple of ideas mulling around in my head. We'll see where the year takes me!
#3 Get in shape - this is not a resolution to lose weight (although a few pounds would be nice). It is a resolution to get my heart in shape, my body toned, and my self-confidence back.
#4 Unclutter my life - of material things no longer needed as well as obligations no longer beneficial
#5 Find my joy - work on surrounding myself with those who make me laugh and smile, finding the activities that bring out the best in me, and being thankful every day for the wonderful family God has blessed me with (even on the bad days!)

I think that's probably a pretty full plate! But I think doing these things will help me bring balance to my life in 2009 making me a better Wife, Mother, and friend.

Best Wishes to all in 2009! May it be full of good health, happiness and good fortune!

God Bless!!!!

Mommy Made

So I decided that for Christmas I was going to make TuTu's for the girls. They both are really into dancing and keep begging to go to dance class. So I thought I'd try my hand at making some little skirts for them.

I have to say I was quite impressed with myself. They turned out really great! If anyone wants a tutorial let me know!!!
Happy New Year to You All!
